BREAK THE CYCLE

Who are you really?

As a human being, an individual…….what are your values? How do you view life? Are your beliefs your own or are they those of family members or friends?  What do you stand for? What do you envisage for your life?

Every one of these questions will evoke a different reaction in each individual as they read it.

You might very well ask why I introduce my coaching practise to you in this manner?.

Let’s begin with my life experience, because I am after all, a human being like you. If I had known what I know now 30 years ago, I would have done things differently, a lot differently. I would have gotten to know myself intimately and asked myself all the above questions.  This would have given me a clear image of who I really wanted to be because I knew what my values were.  I would have questioned my belief systems.  Were they really mine or was I still living with the convictions my parents held? By knowing this I would have been assured in what I stand for and I would have had a clear vision for what I wanted from life. I would have lived life as though it was happening for me instead of living it as though it was happening to me, always on the back foot, always reactive instead of proactive because I wasn’t sure of myself and who I was as an individual.

What I have learnt through my coaching profession and after continual research into human behaviour, is that it all comes down to one thing.  When you know better, you want to and can do better.

When you undoubtedly know who you are, what you stand for and what you want from life, you have a vision.  You picture the career you want, the friends you want around you, the kind of man you want to marry, the kind of parent you want to be, what family life you desire. You have a map.  Now you have to plot the route.
